I personally believe that the success of my therapy is dependent upon the rapport that I build with you, so as a therapist I always ensure that I give you the time you need to settle into the process of therapy; ensuring you feel safe, respected and comfortable before we tackle any big or painful issues that you may wish to explore.
When you ring for an appointment you might have a particular therapy in mind, or you might prefer the process to be more organic, and allow me to suggest which therapy might best suit your personality and support your needs. I often use a combination of therapies.
There will always be a degree of talking whichever therapy you decide upon, but depending on how uneasy you feel discussing your particular issue, there are various options that enable you to avoid talking directly about traumas or anxieties if you don’t feel ready to. EFT for example enables us to discuss the feelings which you are experiencing without looking at the cause of the discomfort, and hypnotherapy works by focusing solely on the desired positive outcomes. Whichever therapy you choose, you will be supported to share only as much as you feel comfortable sharing at the time. My role as a therapist is not to judge your choices or behaviours, or motivate you in any particular direction, it is merely to accompany you on your journey of exploration and understanding. Therapy is the ideal place to examine openly your thoughts and feelings in an attempt to evaluate these and find a way of moving forward. The aim of my work with you is to support positive change, to enable you to become self-reliant and to open up your potential to experience life as engaging and fulfilling. My work with you is always governed by you and what you wish to look at, it moves at your pace and as we get to know one another better you will find that your confidence and ability to explore at depth will increase.
If you still feel uncertain about taking that initial step please call me and let me put your mind at ease. I have a really restful and private room which I work from, or if you prefer we could arrange to walk & talk; some people find it easier to get started if they don’t have to sit across the room staring at me, and don’t forget I run a full online service which means you can stay in the comfort of your own home if you wish to! Whichever way you choose to work I’m incredibly flexible, I even have a very friendly lap dog named George who if invited will be happy to sit with you and support you through your session.
It is important to me that your experience of therapy is a positive and uplifting one, even if your story is filled with sadness and trauma, therapy should never add to the distress you have experienced or continue to feel.
